It's a case of one down and one to go for the village of Kinlough as it waits for the second quarter million lottery prize-winner to claim their fortune.

Two winning lottery tickets, each worth €225,000, were bought last week in Noel McGowan's Spar Shop in the village.

Both tickets were bought on Saturday March 18.

In total, there were six winners in the St Patrick's weekend lotto draw.

Two tickets were sold in Dublin, one in Tipperary, one in County Clare, while the remaining two were bought in Kinlough, County Leitrim.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery confirmed that a syndicate of two ladies, one from Leitrim and the other from Fermanagh, collected a cheque for €225,008 last Friday.

The winners, who wish to remain private, intend to invest their winnings.

McGowan's store owner Noel McGowan said: "There's still one ticket out there.

"It was St Patrick's weekend and so the shop was busy all day.

"It's very likely that the other winner is also from the area."

It's unusual for two winning tickets to be purchased in the same shop on the same day.

Mr McGowan laughed and said: "We like to do things on the double here."

There is lots of speculation around the town as to who has the other winning ticket.

The Kinlough man said: "We've had people in checking tickets for over a week now and some are even looking under their beds trying to find any mislaid ones."

The winning tickets were sold on the same day Noel's son Kevin celebrated his 14th birthday.

Noel said: "It's a lucky day for us."

The shop has been in the family for over 50 years but this is the first big lottery win for the Kinlough family business.

The owner of the remaining winning ticket has 90 days in which to claim their prize which can be done at any Lotto agent nation-wide.
