SANTA FE, N.M. -- A Santa Fe man who was losing the lease on his house now plans to buy a home, thanks to $800,000 he won in the Powerball lottery.

Ignacio Lopez matched five numbers in Saturday's drawing, making his ticket worth $200,000.

Because he chose the Power Play option, the winnings increased to $800,000 before taxes.

The Power Play option multiplies any prize by a factor chosen after the drawing -- the number four in the case of Saturday's lottery.

Lopez told New Mexico Lottery officials when he claimed the prize this week that the lease on the family's home was expiring. And he says they had had struck out during the weekend in finding an affordable place to rent.
