Derry resident wins $400,000 in Powerball

CONCORD, N.H. --A Derry man is feeling a little more secure about his retirement.

Steven Staples picked up a Powerball check Friday morning after winning $400,000 in the May 6 drawing. Staples matched five winning numbers for a $200,000 prize, but doubled his winnings by adding the Power Play option to his ticket.

After taxes, he picked up $300,000.

He says he'll pay off bills and invest for his retirement
