ATLANTA - The Georgia Lottery's annual sales have surpassed $3 billion for the first time in its history, lottery officials said Friday.

Margaret DeFrancisco, the lottery corporation's president and CEO, said it is a significant milestone.

Two weeks remain in the 2006 fiscal year, which spans from July 1, 2005 to June 30.

Georgia Lottery profits pay for educational programs, including the HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten program.
