CHARLOTTE, N.C. A former North Carolina lottery commissioner is defending his relationship with a lottery company as he rebuilds his life in Florida. Kevin Geddings faces state and federal criminal charges related to his work for the company.

Geddings was a consultant and political player who became one of the first members of North Carolina's lottery commission last fall, while he lived in Charlotte. But he stepped down amid questions of whether he'd been working for potential vendor Scientific Games while he was on the commission.

In May, he was hit with federal fraud charges, and accused of breaking state lobbying laws.

Geddings and his wife have since moved to Saint Augustine, Florida, where they own two radio stations -- and Geddings himself hosts a morning news show under the name "Kevin Leslie." Geddings and his wife still say he's innocent, but it was clear that they didn't have any future in North Carolina.
