Nine NC DMV Workers Win $600,000 In Powerball Lottery

RALEIGH -- According to the NC Lottery Commission, nine NC Department of Motor Vehicles worker won $600,000 in Powerball drawings and a man from Southport also won $731,836 in recent lottery picks.

The NC Lottery says that nine NC Department of Motor Vehicles employees won $600,000 in Wednesday's Powerball drawing and that the winning ticket was purchased at Reedy Creek Gas & Grocery in Four Oaks, North Carolina.

The lottery says that the players matched all five white balls to win $200,000 and they also chose the Power Play option, increasing their winnings to $600,000. That ticket is the fourth ticket worth $600,000 sold in North Carolina since the state joined Powerball in May, says the lottery.

Also, the NC Lottery reports that a Brunswick County man in Southport yesterday claimed the top prize in Carolina Cash from the December 2md drawing. The NC Lottery says that John Eagles won $731,836 by matching all five numbers on his ticket with the winning numbers of 7, 9, 33, 4, and 2.

Eagles purchased his ticket at Kangaroo Express #467 on North Howe Street in Southport, say lottery officials.

Evelyn Moore of Mount Gilead bought her own winning ticket at her own store, says the NC Lottery. She came to Raleigh this week to cash in her top prize ticket worth $111,157 she won Monday playing "Carolina Cash". According to the NC Lottery, she purchased the ticket at C's of Mount Gilead, a store she has operated for 21 years.
