Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $36 Million; Power Play 10X produces a $2 Million Winner!

The Powerball jackpot continues to climb. No one hit the jackpot Saturday, but one lucky ticket holder in Tennessee won $2 million with the Power Play 10X promotion. A total of 101,738 players who purchased the Power Play option had their winnings multiplied 10 times when the number "10" was selected by the Power Play wheel.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday's drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $36 million. The cash option for the Wednesday, April 18th drawing will be an estimated $17 million.

The numbers drawn Saturday were 12, 21, 36, 38, 49, and the Powerball was 18. The Power Play multiplier was 10.

Five players correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $200,000. Their winning tickets were purchased in Minnesota (1), Oregon (2), Pennsylvania (1), and Wisconsin (1).

Eighteen players matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Five additional winners at that prize level also wisely purchased the Power Play option multiplying their winnings 10 times for a total of $100,000! An incredible 533,708 players across the nation won a total of more than $9.7 million in prizes in America's Game.

More than 101,000 winning Powerball players multiplied their prize by 10 Saturday. They were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings by 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier. For a limited time during the current "Power Play 10X" promotion, all prizes (except the jackpot) can be multiplied up to 10 times for the same $1 Power Play cost.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased more than $20.1 million in tickets between Wednesday and Saturday night. The lotteries sold over $2.8 billion in Powerball tickets in fiscal year 2006. That translates into approximately $800 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
