Mega Millions jackpot increases to $148 million

The jackpot in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery drawing grew to $148 million Tuesday.

None of the tickets sold for Tuesday's $122 million drawing matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega Ball. The next drawing will be Friday.

There were nine second-prize winners from Tuesday night's drawing, matching five numbers to win $250,000. Another 49 players matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.

One California player matched five numbers, and nine matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. The prize amounts in California are different than what prize winners in the other Mega Ball participating states would receive.

The winning numbers from Tuesday's drawing were: 5, 8, 9, 24 and 34. The Mega Ball number was 17.
