1 winner from GA takes $42 million Mega Millions jackpot

ATLANTA -- A single winner has taken the $42 million jackpot from the latest drawing of the multistate Mega Millions lottery.

The only ticket to match all the winning numbers from Tuesday night's Mega Million drawing was sold in Georgia.

The next Mega Millions drawing, Friday night, will feature a jackpot of $12 million.

In addition to the grand prize winner, one player won the second prize of $250,000. That ticket was not sold in Illinois. Another 16, players, including one who bought a ticket in Illinois, won third prizes of $10,000 apiece.

The winning numbers from Tuesday night's drawing were: 16, 19, 39, 42 and 44. The Mega Ball number is 38.
