$31.4 Million Powerball Jackpot Won in Wisconsin

(Powerball) One lucky ticket in Wisconsin (1) matched all 6 numbers Wednesday and will walk away with the $31.4 million jackpot. The Holder of the winning ticket will now have to decide to either take the 29-year, 30-installment annuity, or the one time cash “lump sum” amount of $16,703,507.

There were lots of other big winners Wednesday evening as well. Two tickets in Indiana (1), and Tennessee (1) matched all 5 white ball numbers with the Power Play for an incredible $1 million cash win each! This is part of the new game feature that guarantees a 5X multiplier on all match 5 white ball winners that also have the Power Play option pushing the prize to $1 million cash.

Twelve other lucky tickets sold in Florida (1), Indiana (1), Kansas (1), Missouri (2), North Carolina (2), North Dakota (1), Pennsylvania (1), South Carolina (2), and Tennessee (1), each won $200,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers!

The jackpot for the Saturday, October 17th drawing will be $20 million with the cash option at $10.6 million.

The numbers drawn Wednesday evening were 5, 15, 25, 30, 40, and the Powerball was 6. The Power Play multiplier was 2.

A whopping 27 tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Eight additional tickets of that prize level had the Power Play and had the prize multiplied by 2 for a $20,000 cash win! A total of 493,524 tickets across the nation won more than $7.5 million in prizes playing America’s favorite game.

A total of 103,094 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prize by 2 Wednesday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for $1. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing an animated spinner presents each multiplier number.

Players purchased $20,195,222 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The lotteries sold $2.56 billion in Powerball tickets in fiscal year 2009. That translates into over $743 million for worthwhile state projects.
